Editors’ Choice: August 31st, 2013
# Editors’ Choice: August 31st, 2013 Rather than operate as a music news source, Electronic Beats operates as a music information source. We want to share with you; we want you to know what we're hearing, what's reverberating our cochleas and sending broader vibrations throughout our bodies, and by extension our audio-addled souls. Down with that? Welcome to Editors' Choice. **[Lisa Blanning][1]{: target="_blank"} (Online Editor)** **Riko Dan -- *Rise of the Farda*** Your chance to listen to the entirety of the Roll Deep MC's new album. Deep sounds, ruff riddims and his trademark island flow. ****/ **[Louise Brailey][2]{: target="_blank"} (Deputy Online Editor)** **Copeland -- "Fit"** Numbed, strangulated and a little hollow around the eyes, "Fit" is anything but. To begin with the organ figures, muffled handclaps and rasps of melodica provide an medicated backdrop for Inga Copeland's barely whispered nothings. However, it's not long before the track begins to decay, as if the oxygen is being drained out of whatever padded container it occupies until its final metallic death rattle. / **[Moritz Gayard][3]{: target="_blank"} (Online Duty Editor)** **Perera Elsewhere -- "Bizarre"** L.A.'s Friends of Friends' signing Perera Elsewhere teases her debut full-length LP *Everlast* with this genius, spaced out "Bizarre" track above. **Sidi Touré -- Ay Hôra : My Dance** This is my jam right now---give it up for Malian guitarist Sidi Touré and make sure to have a listen when his *Alafia* album is out September 17th via Thrill Jockey. / **[Daniel Jones][4]{: target="_blank"} (Contributing Editor)** **Ballet School -- "Heartbeat Overdrive"** Belfastian-turned-Berliners Ballet School have exploded this year, thanks in part to their latest single of twinkling synthpop and it's accompanying [video][5]{: target="_blank"}. "Heartbeat Overdrive" has all the nostalgic charm of a John Hughes soundtrack, with strong hooks and a glowing production that keeps it centered in modernity. I love these kids. **Cocteau Twins -- "Dear Heart" (Live 1983)** Yesterday was the birthday of Liz Frasier, a woman whose music has continued to inspire and touch me throughout most of my life. May she never die. / Read previous editions of Editors' Choice [here][6]{: target="_blank"}.
