text: '
Massive Attack never were your regular electronic pop act. Though they never seemed explicitely leftist, they pressed their point now and then – for example in 2007, when they joined the Hoping Foundation in support of Palestinian children. Times are rough these days, the #Occupy movement is facing the international financial institutions, and Massive Attack decided to step in.

In support of London’s #Occupy movement, Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja aka 3D posted a message to their Facebook page earlier today, stating:

“We did some mixes in support of the Occupy London movement. We don’t see it as left versus right or anarchy versus order. But people taking action and applying pressure on a problem that politicians are unable to fix as they are also the shareholders.”

Together with the announcement, Massive Attack released a new, 49 minute long mix. Titled ‘Occupy Radio’, Massive Attack are curating a bunch of mixes on SoundCloud. Besides 3D’s mix, former UNKLE and DFA Records member Tim Goldsworthy, James Hillard from Horse Meat Disco and Binary Rhythm also contributed to ‘Occupy Radio’ with dj mixes.

3D’s mix includes an edit from Buddy Miles‘ 1971 anthem ‘Place Over There’, Modeselektor & Thom Yorke‘s ‘The White Flash’, ‘This is Radio Clash‘ and also original Massive Attack songs such as ‘Angel’, ‘Teardrop’, and ‘Paradise Circus’. Opening track is the brilliant German schlager classic ‘Molotow Cocktail Party’ by Vivi Bach and Dietmar Schönherr – quite a piece that is.
