# RISING – Young Athletes League
**Young Athletes League**, a nice young fresh synth house duo from
Dalston, London, are creeping up on the hype-scene with their enchanting
style of looping dance pop.
I first became aware of them through their fantastic rework of the
cheesier than thou classic, Phil Collins' 'Another Day in Paradise'
retitled 'Jag älskar dig'. Even though it's almost like touching the
forbidden fruit, it works on so many levels; it just makes you fall in
love with the original again.

They describe themselves as:
\"A SOUTH ONE LONDON EASTERN SYNTHETIC LOOP. ROTATING GUITARS IN
(E)MOTION. HI-NRG MIDI FAILURE; WATERBORNE SNARE MULTI-TRACKING; SURFING
OUT OF SUSPENSE PARTIES LUXURIANT ON THE DANCEFLOOR. THAT WHICH WE CAN
SAY IS ALL\"
But the truth of the matter is they possess the same qualities **Mount
Kimbie** had when they first started out, young, innocent and just doing
it for the fun of it. They experiment with stretched out production,
long ambient details underpinned by some housier elements, reminiscent
of **Blondes, Chad Valley** and **John Maus**.
To be totally honest, saying you come out of the East London scene is
never a great idea, as it's mind-numbingly over fashionable and littered
with 'all style and no substance' acts, but they have something that
takes them out a little further than all of that.
'MorgenLuft' is almost a **Brian Eno**/Krautrock tribute, an ode to
long-bendy synths from the 70s', downtime before you get those 5am get
up calls for the weekend clubs. 'Forget it And Go Home' is a Balearic
poppy dance rework which somehow sounds like something **Foals** would
do if they were hamming it out in Ibiza.
Although fresh out of the blocks, Young Athletes League are already
getting their first U.S. release, a new label out of Brooklyn called
Ceremony will put out their first EP called *We Only Feed Ourselves*
featuring two new tracks \"Monaco Sunglasses\" and \"Glossed Over\"
