# EB Video Premiere: Efdemin – “Subatomic”
Phillip Sollman, better known as [Efdemin][1]{: target="_blank"},
released his third LP Decay this past March on Dial---a
meditative, ten-track album of forward motion very much in line with the
Hamburg-based label's tradition of deepness. As he candidly mentioned to
Philip Sherburne in a [recent interview][2]{: target="_blank"} for
EB.net, Sollmann consciously channeled his inner Terrence Dixon/Jeff
Mills while recording the album on a three-month artist residency
in the Japanese city of Kyoto. The result is more straight
techno than some may have expected, but the subtle production is still
classic Efdemin. In this video for "Subatomic", an EB exclusive
premiere, he turned to artist Phil Struck to help him visualize the
contrast between the track's dubby progressiveness and dancefloor drive,
with images of forests in black and white flickering in time to the soft
thud of the kick drum. Minimalistic German producers really seem to love
their woods.
