# Carl Craig, Francesco Tristano and Moritz von Oswald to play Electr.Oper DJ and producer **Carl Craig**, pianist **Francesco Tristano** and producer **Moritz von Oswald** (**Basic Channel, Palais Schaumburg**) have been pushing the boundaries of contemporary classical music and Detroit techno for some time now. "*Classical music has always been a challenge to me*", Carl Craig told us in our [**Slices** video interview][1]{: target="_blank"} in 2010. "*It all comes down to the orchestra and the sound design*", Craig explained back then regarding his **Versus** project. "*Those are two things that I've always been very interested in, so why not take those steps to reinterpret my music in a very classic way? I've done it all electronically, so this is just the next step.*" On Saturday July 7th, the Detroit legend will once again be bringing techno music to a classical institution with Tristano and von Oswald. After similar shows in Paris, London, and Hamburg, the trio will be performing at the Vienna State Opera this time. The event, titled *[Electr.Oper][2]{: target="_blank"}*, is a take on the twist of electronic music and opera elements. The musical conversions of Detroit techno mixed with classical instrumentation will be backed by a complex visual show. Design and projection collective **Neon Golden** will transform the room into a visual narrative setting with 3D mapping techniques and specially designed props. Following up on the live performance will be DJ sets by **Jamie Jones** and **Damian Lazarus** as well as live sets by **Maceo Plex** and **Amiraliv**. Tickets are [on sale now][3]{: target="_blank"} exclusively at the T-Mobile shop in Vienna's Kärntnerstrasse (45€ each). All tickets are also valid for the preparty at Grelle Forelle on June 29 --- which is equally exciting, since **Kanal Royal** and Electronic Beats will be bringing 'An exercise in sound' with **Ben Klock, Levon Vincent, Daniel Kovac** and others to Grelle Forelle (don't forget to bring your ticket receipt to the party for free entry). **-- -- -- Competition is closed, winners have been notified -- -- --** [1]: http://www.electronicbeats.net/features/news/slices-issue-1-10-featuring-carl-craig-out-march-15 [2]: http://www.electroper.at/ [3]: http://www.t-mobile.at/info-und-support/shopfinder/index.php
