# Mute Records sign Apparat
**Mute Records**, the label which just has become independent again via
a new agreement between EMI and Daniel Miller, will release the new
**Apparat** album this summer.
Apparat is the Berlin-based electronic musician Sascha Ring who since
1999 has ran the record label Shitkatapult together with T.Raumschmiere.
Aside from being a well respected DJ, he is probably best known for his
collaborations -- particularly with Ellen Allien, and with Modeselektor
as **Moderat**.
Apparat's new material sees him move away from the big production style
of Moderat to a more experimental technique, which judging by the
appetizer track 'Ash/Black Veil' (downloadable on Mute's
[soundcloud][1]{: target="_blank" .xmlblocklink}) kinda sounds like
Sigur Ros meets **Caribou**.
